Olive leaf extract is recovered from leaves of the Olive tree species (Olea Europaea), which was first used medicinally in Ancient Egypt internally and externally.
An 1854 article in the Pharmaceutical Journal provided the following simple healing remedy:
"A handful of leaves boiled in a quart of water down to half its original volume. This cup of tea was administered until the fever was cured." They believed that the bitter substance in the leaves was the key healing ingredients.
Figure 1 is a table showing the antioxidant protection factor of various formulations having one or more of the following
components: C- Vitamin C, E-Vitamin E, A-Vitamin A,
Olive-Olive Leaf Extract.
It indicates that the combination of Vitamin C, E, A and Olive Leaf Extracts provide the highest antioxidant protection.
Characteristic sunburn cells can be identified in the epidermis following UV injury to skin and are usually enumerated 24 hours after exposure as a measure of photodamage. Figure 2 shows the sunburn cells per mm at 1-10x MED after use of the different combination of formulations. It indicates that the combination of Olive Leaf Extract with Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A provides the best healing propriety and reduces the sunburn cell.
